DR. MARTA Mª PAZOS CURRÁS

Dr. Marta Mª Pazos Currás has a Bachelor’s Degree in Chemical Sciences specialty Industrial Chemistry and obtained the title of Doctor from the Universidade de Vigo (June 2007) with qualification Outstanding Cum Laude Extraordinary Award. At the end of 2007, Dr. Pazos was selected through the Human Resources Program of the Xunta de Galicia under the figure “Angeles Alvariño”. This allowed her to carry out more than 2 years of post-doctoral research stays in relevant international centers Civil Engineering Department Denmark technical Univertity Denmark and Centro Ingeniería Biológica Universidade de Minho Portugal, as well as in the Instituto Madrileño de Investigación y Desarrollo Rural, Agrario y Alimentario. In 2010, Dr. Pazos was selected in the prestigious “Ramón y Cajal” program of the Ministry of Education and Science, which led to her participation as principal investigator in national and regional funding programs. The concession of different projects in these calls has allowed the development of the different lines of research that Dr. Pazos has carried out in recent years. In addition, these projects have allowed her the support of the 10 Doctoral Theses that Dr. Pazos has directed. After the termination of the “Ramón y Cajal” contract (October 2016), Dr. Pazos gained a position of Profesor Contratado Doctor of the Universidade de Vigo and recently she has obtained the position of Profesor Titular de Universidad (December 1, 2020).

The work carried out throughout the professional career of Dr. Pazos has focused on the area of ​​environmental technology, addressing both the remediation of contaminated soils and the treatment of effluents using biological and physical-chemical techniques. Throughout her research career, the Dr. Pazos has been co-author of more than 140 indexed articles, mainly in first and second quartile journals, book chapters, more than 250 communications to national and international conferences and has been a speaker in different scientific seminars of an informative nature. Dr. Pazos has participated in research projects both nationally and internationally (WATER JPI, Spanish Agency for International Cooperation and through Integrated Actions Hispano-Portuguese). It is worth mentioning that, in recent years, the dissemination of the results of contaminated soils and effluents has aroused the interest of the business environment, which has resulted in different research contracts with companies, some of an international nature.

Dr. Pazos’s teaching experience is mainly framed in subjects of the Department of Chemical Engineering of the University of Vigo, where she has taught Bachelor’s, Master’s and Bachelor’s degrees since 2004. Her teaching activity also extends to the international sphere, since she has She has been a professor of one of the modules of the Integrated Master in Environmental Management at the University of Minho (Portugal) during the period 2007-2012. In addition, Dr. Pazos has participated in different International teaching programs such as Erasmus + PDI and the Iacobus Program. Completing her teaching activity, Dr. Pazos has supervised end-of-studies projects (Bachelor’s, Bachelor’s and Master’s), as well as tutoring students in extracurricular internships and under the Erasmus + Internship program.
